Hi there! I'm Nicole, a self-taught watercolour and soft pastel artist, born and raised in South Africa. The breathtaking beauty of South Africa and its creatures has been a great inspiration for my art, guiding my brush towards nature more often than not.

Why Eureka?

​

I chose the name 'Eureka' as a hint to the origin of my second name, Ereka. Notice the missing 'u'?

​

Named after my grandmother, and sharing this middle name with my mother, the missing 'u' has lived in my family for decades. It came to be by pure chance and clerical error, with my grandmother's intended name being 'Eureka' but the 'u' being forgotten when she was registered after birth.

​

Now, many decades after the oopsy, I cherish the unique spelling of my second name and the invisible line it draws between myself and the two most important women in my life. I keep it as a reminder that though life may not always go to plan, things often turn out exactly as they should.

​

So, when it came time to choose a name for my art business, Eureka felt like the exact right choice.
